Does Vaping CBD Get You High?
Vaping CBD vs THC
Getting High from CBD Vape Juice?
OK, I understand the confusion.
They get CBD from hemp, which is a variety of cannabis sativa –
And it looks and smells exactly like weed.
It even has all the same chemicals as weed, reefer, ganja etc.
Your CBD vape oil might even have THC in it. That’s the stuff that gets you f*cked up.
So does vaping CBD get you high?
Vaping CBD makes you feel good. I don’t mean like “feelin’ good”.
I mean good like normal.
“But you said hemp has all the same chemicals as cannabis!”
Yeah, but in vastly different proportions. CBD is the dominant cannabinoid in hemp – Usually by a factor of at least 20/1 over THC.
CBD is your level-headed friend. It wants to keep your mind and body on the right track. It picks you up when you’re down and doesn’t let you get carried away.
THC on the other hand is your fun friend who you sometimes regret hanging out with. But CBD can even get THC to settle down and relax.
The Classmates CBD and THC
So why doesn’t vaping CBD get you high like THC?
Let’s use another analogy.
You have a system in your body that wants to regulate and balance you out. It’s called the endocannabinoid system.
The endocannabinoid system is the teacher or the head master.
There are twins in the class: CBD, the teacher’s pet and THC, the class clown.
CBD loves to help.
THC likes do impressions and make everyone laugh.
The molecules look almost exactly alike, but act much differently.
First of all, THC messes with your head. It targets receptors in your brain, while CBD targets receptors throughout your body – especially your nervous system.
Secondly, THC mimics anandamide. Anandamide is a chemical that our body produces in small amounts that makes us feel good. When you take in a lot of THC, it’s much more than the normal levels of anandamide and you get a euphoric feeling.
On the other hand, CBD helps your body produce more of its own serotonin.
Light Science of CBD vs THC
The chemistry and biology can get a bit overwhelming, but here is a quick rundown of why THC gets you high and vaping CBD doesn’t get you high.
- THC acts on receptors (CB1) in the brain
- CBD acts on receptors (CB2) throughout the body
- THC mimics ananamide – the “bliss” molecule
- CBD helps our body produce more seratonin – the “happiness molecule”
- THC increases dopamine – “the pleasure molecule”
- CBD is a moderator
- THC is a joker
The two substances seem to have different aims. But they actually work nicely as a team (as long as CBD is in charge). This is called the entourage effect.
You need the order and balance that CBD has to offer, but life would be a bit dull without tricksters like THC.
So vaping CBD will not get you high. But vaping full spectrum CBD vape juice with a bit of THC (<.3%) makes life even better.
Breath in the goodness of CBD
